Well I did my 5 lug conversion a lil while ago and along with it upgraded to Legend 2 pistons, Brembo Legend rotors, SS brake lines, and AEM pads. I put the calipers on the correct sides, bled them right side up and everything. My initial thought was that the pedal was soft, and if I pumped the brakes once, the pedal got much stiffer (more responsive) like it should be (even though it stops ok w/o the first pump). I thought ok I'll break them in and see if it helps... nah.
So to anyone else who's done this on a 4th gen, do you have the same problem as me? All 4th gen Master Cylinders are the same, so that's not it if noone else has experianced this. I'm just not wanting to have to put a Legend master in here, but if I have to I will.
so when you guys push on the brakes... say you let off and push on them again, it doesn't get a lot stiffer... it's just nice and stiff from the start?

.. time to rebleed I guess.
Try rebleeding... and if that doesn't work, replace the master cylinder if its never been replaced. A remanufactured one cost me like $80 at Pep Boys.
I have a similar problem, I have a Prelude S and upgraded to Prelude Vtec Calipers. If I hold pressure on the pedal it begins to go down towards the floorboard. I also bought a master cylinder that I though was for my car, after I Swapped the MC I found that one of the brake pipes wasn't catching(thread), I thought it was stripped, but it turns out that there are two different sizes on the ports. Do Vtec MC have two size ports, or is this MC from A different honda???
That is incorrect. The S models have a smaller master cylinder than the SI/VTEC's do. The Si and the VTEC do share the same master cylinder but the S has one simliar to the Accords. WeedSpeed, I would suggest replacing your MC with a VTEC one if it will fit.
Prelude Styl, how did you bleed the calipers? If they are mounted with the right caliper on the right side the bleeder will be on the bottom and that is not going to bleed properly.
Oh my bad.. when I went to check on hondaautomotiveparts I just checked between the Si and Vtec cause I figured the S and Si masters were the same. Heh.
And I bled them correctly. I held the caliper and rotor in caliper off the knuckle and right side up... at first I bled them on the knuckle then remembered that there would be air in the cylinders still so I did as I said and a lot more air came out.
I'll re-bleed them sat on my day off..
oh and I was gonna take pics tonight but it got too dark so I'll take them and post them tomorrow
