So, she's got a boo-boo... you guys know where I should get the band aid??

So last weekend I was on this sort of back road with my girlfriend in the car, and it had been raining out but not for long and in large quantities, so the roads were super oily and slick. I was going about 40 mph and all of a sudden this ENORMOUS black dog came barreling out of no where full force at my car from the left. I kinda freaked out, slammed on the brakes and veered to the right. Basically in a nutshell... slid off the road into a TREESTUMP (yup, you heard right. of all things, a freekin tree stump! ) Good news is I didn't hit the dog, but the bad news is pretty much all of the lower front plastics shifted over to the right ( I can mostly tell because of the hood gap on one side) and my right turnsignal got busted out. It's strictly all cosmetic damage (I somehow slowed down to AT MOST 8 mph on impact, so it wasn't that hard of a hit at all.), there's some scrapes on the paint and where the turn signal screws into the plastic to hold it in place is missing. I'm sorry if this all isn't making too much sense, but it's hard to explain. Sooo, what do you guys think I should do? The RF quarter panel is fine as far as I can tell, it's the lower plastics that seemed to be all tweaked over. There's no dents or anything, it's just tweaked. Could I go to a junkyard and try to find all new lower front pieces? I was also thinking about just going ahead and getting the WWRS lip kit, but I don't think the lip replaces the factory pieces as high up as I need it to. Any ideas or suggestions?

I dunno, this really REALLY sucks though. I mean she was sooo perfect before that stupid DOG!! Once again, sorry for the utterly confusing post but hopefully some of you can make sense out of it.

damn sucks to hear that. Almost the same situation happened to me except I was doing 70 on straight away out in the middle of nowhere when a HUGE armadillo came out of the bushes. Speed compounded by wet roads caused my car to spin out of control when I tried to maneuver at the last minute. Luckily my accord spun off the road and hit a tree at the rear. As for me and my girl, we came out of it without a scratch. My car was totaled.

Should have hit the dog, at least then your comprehensive under your insurance would have covered it. Unfornately you would have to hit the dog, not like i am saying i dont care about living things, but it obviusly didn't care about you and your car.

That's the thing though Qveon, I don't have comp. insurance, only liability (due to the fact I had a dwi 2 yrs. ago and it's all I can afford), so I basically would've been screwed either way. Plus, this dog was big, I mean huge! Hell, it might've even been a Shetland Pony for all I know, but if I would've hit it, I guarantee I would've had a smashed in fender at least.

So any ideas on what I should do? Should I just go to a body shop(s) and get some estimates? I don't know if they could even fix it, but I guess that'd be my best bet? Does the WWRS kit replace the entire lower piece on the car or is it literally just a lip that is added onto the factory front lip?

btw, qveon, your car is lookin' bad ass man. I haven't been on here in a while so I'm seeing all kinds of new things. Kudos on the lude dude!

Thank you. I think your best bet would be to go and talk to the body shops and tell them your going to be paying for it out of pocket. See what they need to fix it, cause when you tell them you are paying for it, they usually give you a better price then the insurance companies get. Then on that parts invoice go to a junkyard or post on forums to try and get the parts you need.

Damn Josh were the heck have you been man? Haven't seen you post since the you had the 3rd gen.

Sucks about the car man, but like Qveon said I think its best to take it to a bodyshop to get an estimate and then go from there. Good luck

Hey what's up varun? I had been on the site all the time when I got my 4g, I've had the thing for like 2 yrs. now (damn time flies). I've been real busy at work and with my girl and everything,sooo...

I guess this is just what I'll do, I've got a guy in mind right now that'll probably give me a good deal. And just out of curiosity, how much do you guys think the front lower half NEW would be straight from Honda?? I'm sure you can still get the factory plastics from a dealership don't you think?

Okay guys, here are some pics of the aftermath. I don't know how to directly post the pics onto the site, so here's a link. Take a look at them and tell me what you guys think. In the one of the straight on shot of the hood, you can see the gap between the fender and the hood, that's the main indicator of it being wrecked (other than the missing turnsignal and the missing paint ). The other ones are just a couple pics of the side of the car. Pardon the mismatching wheels, I had a flat and I had to put the two front factory alloys back on.

Josh, i honestly do not think it is that bad. Just realign the hood, maybe respray the bumper and get a new turnsignal. It shouldn't be really expensive at all. I thought it was going to be a lot worse then that.

Well, it's a little worse in person than what those pics portrayed it being like. I don't think the hood is out of alignment at all. I think it's the lower plastics are all pushed to the drivers side, thus that gap at the cornerlight and the gap in the hood. I dunno, maybe I am trippin' a little, but I think it's pretty bad. That's why I'm gonna go the whole ten yards throughout the next 3 yrs. on my Prelude to make it better than before (and better than any other 4th gen in Missouri). I love it too much not to.

EDIT: btw, where'd you get that front lip?? That'd solve all my problems..

This plastic stuff?

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...5=FRONT+FENDER

(they only show a fender cover for one side, but they have it for both)

I replaced my front and right splash guards here. You might be able to find them in a junk yard, but it seems like alot of them are chewed up. I would still try it first, they are pretty expensive to get new.

No, actually, I think I need a new front bumper, which, by the way, does the Wings West RS kit replace the entire front bumper?? From all the pics I've seen of them, it looks like it doesn't. Am I wrong?

Here's what I need (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...atcgry5=BUMPER ) , but like I said, I think I'm just gonna replace it with a body kit, as long as I can get a factory turn signal and whoever puts the bodykit on can successfully install the new turn signal CLEANLY on the bodykit front.
