So this weekend I pulled my engine, to take yet another look at what grenaded inside... As we figured before it was the rod bearing, but this time it was even worse than before...
Here you can see where the extra movment left by the non existant rod bearing bashed the bottom end of the head....
This is a picture of the crank shaft in its glory, we measured the crank, and its totally out of round, its almost a oval, from the wear of no bearing there, for the short short time it ran on it... Notice how scratched up it is compaired to the main bearings...
And finally the little piece that caused me soo much grief thus far...
Well whats left of it... The rod riding the crank POUNDED the bearing into a paper thin hunk of metal... while rounding it out and scratching the living hell out of the crank and destroying the rod. The rest of the bearings were just desintegrated, and mixed in with the oil...
Sorry for the large pictures....
We are taking the crank shaft into a local machine shop to see if they can repair it... If not I'll most likely be swapping in a JDM H22A, and selling whats left of my H22A1. Im hoping the crank is repairable.... Going to most likely put in some skunk2 cams, JE 11.5:1 CR pistons, and some crower rods..... Should give me some extra power over the JDM... In the mean time we were replacing all the gaskets, all the seals, rings.... Everything.
Hmm weird its showing the large pictures sometimes and sometimes not..... I hate imagestation, I dont' have access to my webspace right now so I put em up there...
Yikes, bro! Sorry to hear about the bad news. I hope you're back up and running soon.

Anybody want to buy my Lude? (Will sell in either stock or fairly modded trim).
Should be within next two weeks..... I just had to take the oil assembly and main bearing unit down to the machine shop, they needed it, to get correct sizing for the crank....
you cant use aftermarket pistons in your block unless you have it sleeved, the factory nickel coating wont work with them...seem youd need another motor, cranks arent easy to fix especially if youve made it out of round...and your cylinder head is screwed up...by the time you pay to fix everything, you could get an entire JDM longblock..hell theyre only going for like 1600 or less...i got my entire swap tranny and ecu for 2100 shipped..and youll be at highewr compression with the JDM block..peace
The previous owner of the car did not take care of it, engine wise.
Didn't put oil in it, or change it.....
The car had 200000 km on it.....
From what im told from local guys, the pistons will be fine at that CR, only time I'd have to resleeve is if im boosting..... Type S H22As, run at 11 CR, and they are not resleeved... Im not using forged pistons. JE 11.5 CR Pistons will be fine.
We took the crank into the machine shop.... If they can't fix it perfectly, we are just going to go ahead and buy a new engine.
The idea of this is to in the end give me some more juice, over a JDM.... Thats why we are rebuilding.
As for the bottom end of the head, its only slightly pushed, the bottom of the valves are fine, it just looks outta whack cause its clean compaired to the cycls.
I know what it is to get a car that the previous owner didn't take care of. I put over 8000$CDN on it since january.
It's not the CR ratio that matters with the sleeves it's the pistons. You can't put forged pistons in FRM sleeves (at least that's what most people who tried it here will tell you) JE pistons ARE forged.
Woops guess i have been misinformed, I was pretty sure you could either get forged or non forged pistons. I picked up the car for 10,500 CDN, in Vancouver then I drove it home Calgary. I had the car for about 5 days, before the rod bearing went....
I dunno if the previous owner knew there was something wrong or not.
Machine shop said the crankshaft is repairable and are going to fix it for me, I also ordered some counter shaft bearings things are like 80 bucks a pop! and 120 to install them, since they need to be pressed into the block. JOY.... However, 2nd cyl rod is beyond repair and I must get a new stock rod...
