Well they are working on this comparision right now. On h-t that is, theres a guy getting ready to do runs of h22 headers on his lufe as we speak, but from what i have seen in the past of mugen, they cant touch the gains of the smsp header.
The only Mugen Header Dyno I saw was this one of a mugen header AND exhaust by aklucsarits. It's nice but I wasn't like oooh ahhh. Like I said the Mugen is nice for mild setups.
so whats wrong with the DC header, I have the ceramic coated
4-2-1 , i mean i dont know what my actual gain was, but i definetly did not lose hp. And how could a SMSP header give 30 horse off of a NA four banger anyways??

The main downside with the DC header is what's been covered MANY times before. The flange connecting to the a-pipe is ridiculously restrictive. IIRC, it's made for a 1.6 litre engine. Could be wrong there.

yeah, and even if he is wrong, the build quality is inferior. No one said the smsp would make 30 hp, but if you shop for a header, and one offers you 1 1/2 - 2x the gains of another, as well as superior design and build quality, for a little over twice the cost, which would you pick?
To the best of my knowledge every 4-2-1 DC header made for a Honda or Acura after 1988 uses 1-5/8" primaries and 1-3/4" secondaries. No mater if it's a 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2 or 2.3L engine.
$2000+ for 30 hp and 1 tq. i would not say that is an,"excellent amount of power" increase.
the header would be a great mod for us si owners that spray and do not want to go the turbo route.
Uhhh...have you looked into the headworking market? For 2G's, you couldn't get more than 15-20 reliable HP, and that's not including a remapped ECU & bigger fuel injectors...

he's basically saying that for the cost of a JDM swap, the power you'd be getting isn't bad at all for the price. Furthermore, he's saying that if you spend your money elsewhere, and do headwork to try and achieve greater gains for less, or gains in general for the same price, you wouldn't be able to, so lb for lb, the H22 swap is a pretty good deal considering what you're getting.
but can it be as reliable as, say, an OEM engine, if used regularly over time? I've never used nitrous before, my only experience with it is when I watched that rediculous movie The Fast and the Furious, and that's not saying much, but I'd still argue in favor of doing a swap. In the end, it's your bowl of cereal, you can put whatever you want in it
