Small rust problem above rear wheel-well...

I have some rust developing on my rear quarterpanel. I am unsure of what I am supposed to do. I was told the best way to deal with it is to take it somewhere and have them cut out the infected area and weld in a new piece of metal. I don't want to bondo it because I heard that was a cheaper way of doing it. I need to do something quick before winter comes because if the salt gets in it, it will just eat away at it faster. Can someone tell me how much it will probably cost me to do this and if it is the right solution?

Thanks,
Matt

It depends how bad the spot is damaged from the rust. I would definatley take it in and have it fixed before it gets worse though.

If you have the black fender lining on your rear quarter then that is the culprit, anyway get it fixed ASAP, the longer you wait the worse it gets, surface rust can be fixed with bondo, however if it is rusting from the inside out then cutting and welding is your sole option, either way some form of Bondo or filler will be used

I just had a quote of $500 but that included the sunroof also. I decide to do the whole car though.

how would it look dumb?
u dont see it until u look under
its painted underneath and u may slow down the rust..
if u take it off youll see all the dirt and crap that was under the strip
