small cheap mods till I can afford a turbo

I am planning on getting a turbo for my 92 Si soon but right now only have about $1500 so I will need to build my funds before I can afford one . Right now the car is stock just want to know what mods can I do to toughen the engine or just make the car a little better until I get the turbo.

If you're seriously going to get a turbo you should start building up the engine to handle the pressure.

yea that is one of the things I was wondering about. Sleeving the pistons and what not that I would need to do. I have only learned about engines a little bit nothing about modding them too much.

alright here is my deal I have about 145,000 miles on my 92 Si. the H23A engine I believe. I need to know what I need to do to strengthen the engine to hold a turbo, should I get a newer engine first, also about how much overall will this cost me.

well, putting a thicker metal head gasket to lower compression would be a good start, if you are going turbo, bigger exhaust piping would be a good thing to have, a Moroso oil pan w/ the precut oil line outlets is another thing. If you really want to be safe, stronger valves, valve springs, get some pulleys to reduce the stress that your engine takes from the accessories. That's all i can think of off the top of my head
