top mount not a good idea, owners of cars that come stock with a top mount like the wrx change it for a front mount for more power... more cold air down there..

there is plenty of room for a front mount on the lude, and not much for top mount...

paint it black, or do what i'm planning on doing, hiding it with mesh grille... get black mesh if u like..

It's all good ... whenever you get the chance. I'd post more in OT, but I'm so caught up in getting ready for my turbo.

definetly paint it black. people who aren't "in the know" wont give it a second glance. and it depends on how you install it.

Do you know if paint messes w/ the efficiency of the IC to cool the air?

Cool ... it's a done deal. The black IC will go well w/ my newly black-powdercoated rims. I'm going into nightstalker mode, heheheheheheehe.

Quoting from SCC:

"The coating is a flat black finish that makes our intercooler disappear in our lower grill opening. The coating also improves the efficiancy of the intercooler, an effect that can't be duplicatedwith flat black paint. While paint may give the intercooler the stealth look, it will also hurt the effictivness of the intercooler; Black Body Emitting coating actually improves it."

i'm still working on mine.

i put my ic in the engine bay. where the radiator fan would be the passenger side. i have a large fan on the other side sucking air from front of car and blowing directly to the ic. it works pretty good. just need to find a way to keep the engine heat away. its a small ic because i have a 95 mitsu eclipse turbo. but it is completely sleeper. i call it my deep sleeper, until i let off the bov. I enjoy it when someone hears it spool up and when i park try to find the ic.

hope you find a good way.

good luck

I have a question

Is it possible to pipe the Blow off effeciently into the intake???
Wouldnt that solve the blow off noise and maby even help getting more air into the turbo???
Just a thought i had when i was saving for my turbo.

If you relocate the battery to the trunk could you mount the IC there and put a hood scoop above it, it would look kinda off but that would keep it away from the top of the engie and keep it invisible. maybe put a heat shield aroung it. you could also just say that you are rice and go for looks instead of performance when they ask about the scoop.

Too much pain .. just put it on the front, where it belongs.

can't anodize aluminum. wouldn't suggest painting it, everyone knows black holds heat better. you could probably put it on top of the engine like the WRX. but you'd need to have a hood with a cowl as well as a scoop.

What in the FVCK are you talking about? Who ever told you that straight up lied to you. Aluminum is like the only metal you see anodized in mass-production applications!!

why dont you just leave the IC alone to where it belongs if you want to kind it....put a grill like from grillcraft or something and paint the grill black...that should work...but dont try to defeat the purpose of air to air intercooler....thats just my opinion...
