is it posible to make keep a turbo lude a sleeper? would it be posible to mount the intercooler on top of the engine and get a hood scoop like the wrx' have??
Couldn't you just paint the intercooler flat black? Would this totally destroy the efficiency of the IC? Or, would annodizing be a possibility??? I'm not sure, to tell you the truth, but I'm probably going to just paint mine flat black...

Anybody want to buy my Lude? (Will sell in either stock or fairly modded trim).
Our engine bays are pretty cramped. If you're going to mount one so that a hood scoop can ram air into it, wouldn't the scoop have to be pretty big?

If you mount one over your engine, it will take the purpose of cooling the air away.. You can paint it black, or just buy a black one and paint/powder coat the piping black.
there is actually a company that will coat any of your aluminum or steel bits with a heat-reducing coating (kinda similar to ceramic coatic) that is black. This actually IMPROVES intercooler performance.
yeah i was gonna just say some sort of mesh grill would suffice, and before someone races you just paint your wheels blaze orange this will totally distract someone from looking/seeing through your front bumper and seeing your IC.

If anybody knows of this company, can you put the link up?

I think that laying it flat would defeat much of the purpose of having it exposed to the air, head-on, so to speak. The hot air, coming out of the turbo itself, needs to be cooled, and the more the IC is exposed to circulating air, the more the air in the IC is cooled ... sorry for rambling.

Hey guys, you know we totally forgot about a water to air intercooler! They don't need to be mounted in the front of the car! Man I feel stupid for not thinking about that earlier!

Technically, unless you plan VERY well, and have a lot of money, turbo isn't practical for a daily driver, either

I'll try to get it for you later tonight. My firend has the Sport compact Car where they talk about it (he's not in his room right now though). It's called "blackbody coating" or something. They were doing an SR20DET swap into a G20 and they had the exhaust manifold, intercooler, and piping coated. I'll get back to you. . .
