They will be harder to get off. Lug nuts should cause any problems because they were torqued past spec. Some parts on a car will break or strip if you over torque them.

I think the worst case scenario is breaking off the stud from supertightening it.

also if you overtighten them, you run the risk of warping your rotors. esp. if you overtighten some and not others, but even if you do them all, you can warp them.

and don't be embarassed, I use a torque wrench when I change my oil ... don't laugh 33lb-ft every time, and my oil pan will last forever. Of course Mr. Shadetree may think that's all nonsense and tighten the hell out of the drain plug every time he changes your oil, and of course, after a while the pan gets stripped, the bolt never fully tightens, and oil leaks. I'm proud of you, don't you ever put that torque wrench down.

i torqued my lug nuts to 85 lb/ft but on one of the wheel, when i would tighten it, it would make this ticking sound. like when i turned the lug nut, it would make this sound like metal was hitting metal but in a ticking pattern. i tighted that wheel the same as the others so im not sure why that wheel made that sound and the others didnt.

is it like a loud squeaking sound? Sometimes mine make that noise, but I always thought I was applying too much torque (i.e. when I put the spare on and have to use a standard lug wrench)

its not really a continuous squeak, its more like a ticking. ya know, like pauses in between.

hmm, mine would make like an irritating chirp as I tried to muscle the wrench, like metal rubbing tightly against metal, not so much grinding, but it felt a little like that.
