Silly Transmission Question

How can you tell which tranny you have? H23 or h22... just curious. Cuse i know they etch h23 on the motor... wonder if they put it on the tranny as well? maybe a distinguishing feature?

Just wonderin.

That's a good question. I don't know myself. Post it in GD too, more people go there.

I know that there is a transmission number under the engine code on the block, but I'm not sure how you can tell the difference.

I don't remember the codes, but the tranny code is on the transmission. Its a white sticker that has like a barcode on it. It is placed sorta near the engine block stamp. You can't miss it. I do know that both of them start with an "M".

Found it!!!

It should be about 4 inches to the left of the engine code.

The numbers are as follows:
M2F5 - manual - H22
M2K4 - manual - H23
MP1A - automatic- all engine types.

These are European specs, so the might differ slightly.
