Si and Se Ludes are fuuuuuuun. Great low end, awesome for daily driving. And they are quick too, beating many cars that it shouldn't be able to. But ever since I got my JDM, wow! Huge difference, low end is not as good, but its not like its worse, feels almost the same, but when we get up in the higher rpms thats where the fun starts I think you should be plenty happy with the Si though, I know I was. Especially if you say you don't race, not that its slow at all . But one of the reasons I got the h22 was cuz, well it sux to lose a race.... but gotta lose with grace u know
Whatever decision you make though is all good cuz its still a Prelude

Yeah, you really can't go wrong w/ either...both kick butt in one way or another, although I sure as hell wouldn't mind driving a VTEC.

Me neither. That's next, after I blow my H23 (it's pretty much a planned failure, the way I drive ).

i have had both and mashed on both. my h23 was awesome and a great first 5 speed honda. but i got my jdm h22s vtec wired up today and i would live in vtec if i could its so much nicer on the top end.

I'm sure the OP would have appreciated your insight 6 years ago
I will also attest that the VTEC are not that much faster. I have too raced Base 5th gens with success. I have also raced a 94 USDM VTEC with the same mods as my car and he was only .2 faster in the 1/4. So make your decision wisely. The only major perk in my mind for the VTEC model besides the h22 is larger front brakes. The Si comes pretty well equipped so options shouldn't be an issue. The H23 has a broader torque range then the H22 thus making it more pleasure for daily driving. If your worried that it's going to be slow compared to your H22, it's not, now the H23 may not be asfun in the high rpms but the motor is a very well engineered.
What's up Corey?? Long time!!

Sounds like I can settle for an si. I'm stuck on the 4g right now, and prelude in general. Si's must be pretty sick because there are so many arguements in favor of them. They might not be as fast as vtec's but they seem to be dam close behind.
I needed to quote this....
My buddy and I both had Si's for years, and when we raced we were ALWAYS neck and neck (if we had a good jump)... Once I dropped a Vtec into the car, I would beat him but about 3/4 of a car length.... so yes, they're still very close... Each time VTEC kicked in, I would gain 1ft or 2ft
