Si vs. S

My car was just totaled and now i'm lookin for a 4th gen lude for around $3500, assuming high mileage of 150k or more (what i'm gettin for my car that was totaled). I want to swap for a H22A in about a year once i get the money saved. Of course i'd rather have a Si than a S, but is there any real advantage if the engine will be swapped? Does the Si have anything the S doesnt? ABS i think might be one thing? any opinions, help, thoughts? thanks!

Yes. Brakes/Rotors/Calipers are way too small on the S. If you are swapping in an H22A you will have to upgrade to SRV rotors/calipers or go on to Legend or NSX ones if you feel like it. Either way, an S with a swap will have very poor stopping power.

It won't have poor stopping power. The S has the same brakes as the Si, which are more than adequate. VTEC brakes are nice, but not a necessity.

Thanks for the info, keep 'em comin!

is it any easier to do the swap to a H22A with an Si? motor mount locations or anything else down the line?

... and are there any other internal differences besides power locks???

Are you sure? S models come with 14" steel wheels....I don't think the Si Brakes would fit no?

Good luck finding a car for 3500. All the ludes I see for sale with high miles(neer 200k) are at least 5500.

S's:

No ABS
No power door locks
I guess some might not have AC (probably rare)
No standard spoiler (?)
No alloy wheels

There shouldnt be any difference between a H23/H22 swap and an F22/h22 swap. . .all the mounts are the same and you will need to rewire stuff for both swasp

S models 94 and above have A/C Standard. And I'm still not convinced about the brakes.

no it wasnt my fault.... i was hit from the rear..... i had just gotten a new cv joint/axle... new brakes (front and back), new rotors, new drums..... new tires with less than 5000 miles on 'em... bumper, radiator, and hood are less than 2 yrs old with fresh paint........ all the values i can find for the car are between 2500 and 3500 assuming average condition, which it most definately is.... the only problem with it is the paint job is somewhat fading (of course, its an 88 accord!) except for the front end which is freshly painted. my dad and i have done more research, gotten values from various sources, gotten prices of 88 accords for sale by dealers in the area.... he's supposed to talk to them again today or tomorrow

if it wasnt your fault they by law have to put your car back to the way it was or as close as they can. dont settle for too low, and if you need, get a lawer.

really? I never knew that. So do you just have to switch the mounts on the engine when installing an H motor into a car origionaly equiped with an F series?

yup, the H mounts bolt fine to the F22a engine bay. Different engine block different mounts..
