ok, my lude runs hella awesome when its cold. its stock and burn the tires @ 5 grand in first and i shift and i roll them for like 2 or 3 seconds. but, when the car is warmed up, it will barely chirp going into second... wtf? its the h23, i noticed that my distributor is really hot after it gets warmed up, (hotter than the valve cover) when its cold i get a puff of BLACK (fuel) smoke out of the exhast when i get above 3 grand. it has JUST got a tune up with new everything like 300 miles ago and its happened since the last time i built it. and no the clutch doesnt slip it.
This happens to me also, before and after my h22a1 swap. I've always waited until the gauge goes halfway, only then will I drive off, so I don't think that has anything with it. It might be the IACV or Idle air control valve. After my swap I took the iacv out cleaned with carb cleaner and it got a little better.
omg dude. i never launch my car mostly because i dont know how to... but the car starts to burn the tires when i accelerate from 5 to 6.5 grand. Im really sorry your car doesnt do that . but anyways... I give it hell after about 5 mins of normal driving i guess... enough to get out onto the highway and to the 2nd temperature light. but this isnt my problem. the problem is that it runs great when its (partially) warm and runs like **** when its all the way warm. I just replaced my knock sensor and I cleaned my TB today. a puff of black smoke comes out when i get it over 4 grand? and im leaning twards Ox sensor because it might not be reading right and thinking im too lean when im not and throwing way to much fuel? when the car is cold it is in loop and is told to do what the comp is set to do on a preset setting and SOME (not all) of the sensors wont read untill it warms up , so the Ox is one of them. Idk you people criticize to much and dont really help any one. wtf happened? did you forget what the forum was for? dont post if your not going to help and your just going to be an asshole. thanks alot.

Sounds like you need new tires if you're losing traction at high RPMs
Are you backfiring through the intake? Check the TPS. Another possibility is the MAP sensor. When either of those 2 act up, you get weird problems. There's a few threads on checking the TPS. I'd look for them but I'm at work

My car doesn't do that How did you get your tires to burn? Have you been driving a long time? Seems like it. I just recently learned how to drive a manual so I can't fathom utilizing the h23's power like that.

i just have the usual i/e... cam gears, stage 1 cams ( that i think dont really do much) and a light weight crank pulley. i just rebuilt my head like 2 months ago so i guess its fresh. Just drop the clutch with your toe if you want it to chirp or something going into a gear. im not really the greatest or smartest driver so its not that hard...
I'm sorry by my car has wayyyy more power than yours does and there is no way I could chirp the tires from 5000 rpm to _____ .
I had an h23 4g, I drove it for 3 years and took it to road racing / auto - x events, I could spin the tires at launch maybe or come in too hot for a turn, but never just accelerating in a straight line. Heck, I even had a h22a swap, and no, couldn't do it then.
I just think you have some crappy tires.
You know, whenever someone comes in here and starts asking questions that make them appear to be someone who the general population of the forum, don't really "care for" then no, the forum isn't for help. It's to call out the idiocy.
Yes everyone was a noob at some point but asking a general question can be still smart. You can show some thought and effort.

uhg. ok(edited for language) and this forum. Honda makes a ****ty car anyways, if it wasnt ****ty i wouldnt need this forum for help on how to fix half the **** on it. im tired of it and i want it gone. come to Tennessee and get it, 2600 cash. (edited because this isn't a FS forum) if your interested.
So wait, you buy a 14 year old car, complain that its problematic, flame another member, say that Honda sucks, say that the forum sucks, and then you post your e-mail address... I don't get it
yes, i switched the tps with a known good and i switched map sensors with a civic. checked for vacuum leaks, bought a new throttle body gasket. i even took the IM off last night to check the damn gasket. i found a link to do a mod on my iacv to stop the idle fluctuation and it didnt change a thing. i changed my o2. i get 15ish mpg and my car smokes fuel when i take off mildly. i get like 160 effin miles a tank. sorry, but for the last two days this car has made me like a different person. i swear... i was just tired of working on it to solve nothing.
well i didnt adjust it...
but i thought that they come preset because they are riveted?
i looked at it and i thought that i should cut a slot in it so i could unscrew what looked like a rivet but my buddie told me not too because i might ---- it up...
is there anyway that i can adjust it? oh and i changed o2 sensor... it runs like it does when its cold but a tad bit better.
yes sadly enough i do have bad front tires so thats probably why they are spinning so bad. so props to petern101 cause he more than likely does have more power than me.
but i still have idle surge, so ill just search that instead of threading it.
sorry, honda doesnt make a ****ty car. really i love it. and i love smoking probes when my car runs like crap . my car just made me really mad.
thx.
