should i keep her? (kinda long)

I have a 1993 SI with 101k miles. Its been a fun car and i really like it, but is starting to show some signs of age. All though i know it`ll probably last a another 70-80k i dont know if i wanan keep on making repairs just to keep her running perfect. I am a senior in high school, and when im off to college next year I want a car that`ll cost less to maintain. Money is not really an issue. I was thinkin about getting a 5th gen. If you guys were in my place what would you do? Keep the 4th gen untill i drive the hell out of it, or sell it and get a 5th gen. It may seem like an easy answer, but ive grown attatched to the car.

I think there should be a 3rd choice: Sell the 4th gen, and get ANOTHER 4th gen.

I say keep the car also. As the other person said, buy a helms Do you have the car payed off now? If you do, do you really want another car payment when you first start college? Honda's are known to last, it's not like you have a Geo Metro so as long as you have taken care of her, it should last a while longer!

With reasonably careful driving and regular maintanence, the car should last you the extra 70k miles and run strong the whole way. Repair costs would be much less than buying a new car altogether, and on top of that, you'll probably regret losing your 4th gen.

I had an old 1980 Honda Accord hatch that had 161k when I sold it, ran as good as new and only broke down twice in the 12+ years we had it. Keep your car.

if you are going to take your car on college campus, I say keep your 4th gen. You never know what might happen to a car on campus due to tight parking areas, drunk idiots, etc...that's one place I would not take a brand new car.

on a side note, if yours was a 94 or 95 I would of been interested in buying it.

as said before: keep the car, get a Helms, swap a newer engine. As long as you maintain it well, it should last for a long long time. I know I'm keeping my lude even if I buy a brand new car but that's not gonna happen in the next 3-5 years.

my advice to you would be to keep your 4th gen. You've got plenty of life left in it, and It shouldn't be too expensive to maintain. Just drive your current lude till you get outta college and then get something even nicer than a 5th gen.

It's true that there are a lot of cars nicer than a 5th gen, but I don't think there are many other cars that look double or even triple of what they are worth, other than the Prelude of course.

its a lot cheaper to drop a new engine in your 4th gen after its old one finnaly dies, but it is a lot more expensive to get a 5th gen (insurance + car payments are going to rape you).

A little maintanence expenditure is no reason to sell your car. You've got a killer car for the age you're at. Keep it, don't spend hella money just to put off maintanence costs until your next car needs it.

Oh and by the way, how is it that maintanence costs are an issue, but the price of a 5th gen is not?

keep the 4th gen, but if you have the money and want payments monthly, then 5th gen. good luck.

I'm in college with 180k on my 4th gen. It sucks. get a 5th. seriously

or if you have enough money now, bullet proof your 4th gen with a h22 swap and fix out the kinks before college.
