how many of yall that are running testpipes shoot out flames it is normal to do it isnt it since we have a straight pipe for a cat because earlier tonight i pulled out of a friends driveway me and another friend were in my car i started out in 2nd took it up to 60mph (my rpm gauge doesnt work so i use my mph gauge to know when vtec engages in the next gear) and when i throw it in 3rd i see a bright red glow in all my mirrors damn i wonder what the people behind me thought does this happen to yall every once in a while?
Originally posted by ludethugs something must be wrong if it does that... please xplain.
Nothin is wrong. It occurs when there is not cat. The excess fuel ignites and there is obviously a lot of unburned vapor with preludes running rich from the factory.
odd... i wonder if i do that, cause i'm pretty sure i don't, i don't see any flashes and when i'm cruisin' down the streets with friends they usually follow me, they don't say anything....

too much fuel...get a v-afc and lean it out,(unless you like it!)
i think it looks great but i'm sure the engine cant be running to its max potential like that.
(My 2 cents).
My h22 has done that on the track, people love to see it (until the v-afc).

I agree. Lean it out a bit. Looks cool as hell though

I saw a guy doing that the other day at this car show I went to. He had a Lancer Evo V.....straight from the other side of the globe. He kept getting in and out of the car revving the motor and I was like WTF does he keep doing that for. Then I got to the back of the car....every time he redlined a huge a$$ flame would come out the exhaust after about a second or so. It looked so f***in sweet.
So if I get rid of my cat........I"ll be able to shoot flames out the back of my car.......can someone ellaborate bit more?
Um, if you have a straight pipe (no cat), you'll shoot flames out, but not like a huge fireball. The guy with the Evo probably has a flame shooting kit in it. There are a bunch of companies that make the kit. But I think its pretty dumb....

Apparently it's only done it once, but one time I ran my car all the way through down this street with my friends behind me, and when I let off at the top of 4th (I blelieve it was) they said I shot a flame out. Stock cat, Tanabe exhaust... heh.
