shifting question

Does anybody know how to shift without using the clutch on their fourth gen? I heard it could be done at a certain rpm or speed.

Yeh there is no reason to this for fun or something but I have heard of it happening when the hydralics of the clutch goes out. When mine did I tried it but it didnt work very well and it felt like I was breaking my car....So if thats your problem then tow the vehicle, but I do know it can be done but thats too risky!!!1

To answer your question:You can shift without clutch at lower rpms, you just have to force it in gear. It's not a big grinding noise like you think, my friend does it in his Civic for some mean burnouts into 3rd gear, I clutch instead. If your going to beat on your car with a burnout, may as well beat on it as little as possible.

NO NO and NO.

It is not that hard to shift with out your clutch. I have only done it a few times in the lude but many times in my truck.

This is only somewhat useful for downshifting. DO NOT DO THE WAY ABOVE! That actually does some wear on your tranny.

Here is how you do it. Pay attention to how much your rpm's change between gears. Say at 4k in 2nd you drop to about 3k in third.
Go to 4k in second
Put car in neutral
Give the right amount of gas so your rpm's are at 3k
Shift to 3rd(push lightly)

If you do it right you slide right into gear with no noise.

aye, thats how you do it as said just above.

Back in my first truck i had, the clutch went out on me. and i was forced to get home one day w/out the clutch.

Just gotta rev/match it...

Best way i figured out how to get home was.. slowly rev your engine, (cuse my truck didnt have a tach) and LIGHTLY push the shifter towards 1st.. and once you hit a certain RPM it will just fall right in as said above... starting out like that it gerks.
But do the same for 2nd 3rd ect.. ive accidentally done it on my lude once. Foot slipped. heh.

But ya, if your clutch dies on you.. you CAN get it home =]
