ok, so i know most of you have probably seen my other posts about tranny problems.. well i changed the clutch master cylinder and it was smooth sailing until the shifter started to feel spongy.. after moving the shifter through the gears while off the shifter got stuck in the reverse position. i pushed it out but it felt like it was still in. now the only position it will go in is the position for what should be fifth and it just bounces out. while moving it i hear a grinding noise coming from the fire wall. note the car is off this whole time. i assumed it would be a linkage issue but when i removed the cables from the levers they will not move. shift arm maybe? something else? i need to get some suggestions as this is my daily driver and i will need it towed if i cant figure it out

Disconnect your shifter cables from the shifter and the transmision arms. move the cables by hand, if the cables are binding, it is bad cables. if you disconnect the cables from the shifter and move the shifter and it is hard and binding it is the shifter. if you need i have a shifter i'd sell you for 25 plus shipping, sorry no cables, done sold them.
