shift linkage...

i'm currently in the middle of putting my engine back in, and while i was at it i thought i'd do a 5-speed swap. i need to know if the shift linkage is run over or under the rear beam and if it has to run from the drivers side of the rear motor mount or the passenger side. the linkage is the only thing i have left to do to complete the swap so all help would be appreciated.
oh and if any one can take some pics of the linkage routing so i could get a visual that would be awesome
thanks

I'm not really sure but I think I placed my linkage over the rear beam when I did my tranny swap. As long as its not gonna interfere with other components under there, you're fine. The main point is to find the shortest route from the interior to the gear-shift mechanism on the tranny with minimal bends.
