Shift boot

Looking to replace the shift boot on my 92S
here's what mine looks like

after looking at some post here, seems that the ITR type R would work.
However, most of the ones I see and not just the ITR seem to have what looks like a plastic\metal ring around the top. Believe that would work fine with an aftermarket knob but not with mine.

Does that ring come off or do I tuck it down inside if I wanted to use my stock knob

pic of what I'm talking about

I like the ones at redlinegoods but need to watch my funds

input.....

Nope the ring doesn't come off but you can still use your shiftknob but I recommend you going to the junkyard and picking up a RSX 5 speed shift knob they are pretty cheap my friend got one for 5 bucks

IT will looks better because the prelude shift knob clips onto the shift boot and there is no way for it to clip onto itr boot

Don't quite follow you Pro38
The original doesn't really "clip" on. The boot is just folded down inside it self from the top, to such a point that it's snug enough not to slide off the chrome piece under the knob.

Seems like I could just remove the metal\plastic ring at the top of the ITR and roll it onto itself as well.

Suppose if I wanted to, could use a nylon tie or rubber band to hold it in place from the inside

Hmm thats strange becuase thats how my shift knob is connected to the shift boot. Mines clips onto the metal ring on the shift boot but i also have an SI so that might be why its like that but anyway yeah you could just cut the ring off and just do the rubberband trick
