Shaving the head! H23a

Was thinking about shaving the head on my h23a..
If so how much is recommedned I take off, I havent done any internal work.. my engine mods are in my sig

Anybody ever done this before.. My bro is an engineer and has all the equipment at work and is mechanically minded but needs to know how much to take off.. obiously taking off to much will screw the whole thing.. I want to be on the safe side..

also are there any other internal mods I may benefit from doing? port polish???

It just depends on your goals. P&P and agressive cams will give you alot of power up high, but you will loose some streetability.

I would not shave the head, if you want to increase compression it would be better to get high compression pistons, or reshape the combustion chamber by welding (DPR does good work) Pent-roof design is best for high compression. If you shave to much off the head, you put more slack in the timing belt, which will change the timing at the crank. You should only shave the head when it is warped, so you get a good flat surface and a good seal. The Honda manual says the maximum resurface limit is 0.2mm based on a height of 147mm.

i had my f22 head shaved .22, gave it a nice rough idle and gave it some noticeable torque. Go for it. hell of a lot cheaper than buying new pistons....

what exactly is "shaving the head?" what do you do?
btw: port polish is only gains with no downfall. you dont lose low end by removing burrs that arent supposed to be there
