shaved gas tank cover?

i was wondering about something. I am in the process of painting my lude and shaving the handles, antenna, trunk. i want to shave the gas tank door. i was thinking i could reroute the gas tube behind the tailight. then rig up something to where my tailight swings open to reveal the gas opening to fill up. anybody ever heard of this before? if so, let me know where i can see pics and stuff. thanks.

i think its more trouble then its worth since the gas lid has nothing on it such as handles and sits flush its not that big of an eye sour like an antenna or emblem...

i would spend that money on something else

Sure, a lot of "full show" cars do that... it makes it look very clean, however i have not seen someone do a nice job at rigging up the taillamp nicely. Looks real ugly when they pop their tail lamps.

easy way to do it is to cut the gas fill pipe (that runs from the opening down to the tank & turn it aroun 180 degrees so that it comes throught the inside of your trunk. I believe that it comes through right at the apex of the wheel well. It is pretty cheap and relatively easy. I'd reccomend buying a new pipe and doing it. only bad thing i've heard is that you might end up with the smell of gas in your car if not done properly.

Oh yea that will look cool when you go to a gas station and it looks like your putting fuel in your trunk.

FYI:
Preludes have Venting gas caps. Mounting the gas cap in the trunk is a bad idea. It would vent gasoline fumes into the trunk, and if there was a spark (say from a bad amp or speaker) your trunk could explode.

You might be able to find a replacement gas cap thas has a ventalation tube attached to it that would vent outside.
