Shaky Ignition

Whenever the lude sits overnight, it shakes pretty bad when I first start it back up. Mainly when it sits for a long period of time. It only shakes while it's starting...then returns to normal when it's done.

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks

What mileage are you at? When was the last time you had a tune-up? Even w/ the extreme care that I take w/ everything involved w/ my car, I have a slightly rough idle in the morning, when I start it up to head to work. I'm not really sure how to fix this-->any ideas, folks?

My car only has 49,300 miles...it's a 94. I bought last it last month and it probably has not ever had a tune up. But it really isn't due for one with that many miles, right?

I'm not talking about the idle. It's when the engine turns over is when it shakes.

Ask whomever you bought it from about when the last time it was maintenanced--if it really has never been cared for, I don't care what the mileage is, take it in and have it looked at if you're not mechanically inclined.

Do you think the air filter would cause it? I know it's pretty dirty...I keep forgetting to buy a new one.

Well, if your ignition eventually smoothes out, I wouldn't think it's the air filter. It sounds like more of a timing, or hesitation problem...I'm no expert though.

Sounds to me like one of your cylinders isn't firing properly or isn't firing at all. If I were you I would get new plugs and new plug wires and get a new air filter and go from there. Let me know (pm me). I will ask my local Honda Mech. next time I see him about it.
