SH motor swappable?

There is a guy local thats selling a H22a4 for a grand with 67k miles. I'm thinking something has to be wrong with it but I find out its an SH motor... Is it possible to swap that SH motor in or would I have to do some modifications? I'm not trying to use the tranny or anything, just the motor itself.

I'm not sure, but theres not much different between the SH and base motors. Same motor, different transmission. And since you have a 92 it would be much, much easier to swap in a 92-95 H22A1 (OBDI) engine I believe.

The block is different between the SH and base. Your halfshaft will not bolt to the block without a custom fabricated bracket. Since the ATTS unit bolts to the rear of the block it requires different mount points.

Also, you will need to source a OBD-I P13 to make that motor work, not to mention you will have to use your current tranny with its longer gears.

You are best off just ordering a JDM H22A with a tranny (and while your at it get an LSD) and swapping that in, just remember one thing, you usually get what you pay for.

HTH,

Well this motor is only my "temporary" motor. I'm just looking for another motor to swap in while I rebuild my current H23 for boost.

Like I said though, it will not just bolt in. The halfshaft mount points on the back of the block are different.

Ah well, just figured I'd see if I could use it or not. I'll just buy another H23 and prepare for boost
