Anyone else happen to notice that this week SOTW has been on there before but under a previous owner....oh well, I guess if you spend enough money on something you can claim it as your own....
Yea thats just like dohcpowers previously sohcpower (chris). He sold his 4th gen to some goof ball.. and the goof ball posted up the same exact setup that dohcpower had, then claimed he did all the work and is trying to re sell it. It's funny cause I was talking to chris and he said some of the mods the new own listed chris took off before he sold it. Shows you how much the new owner knows.

I dont think it makes much sense to buy a modded car in the first place. You know they are going to have been driven hard, and unless the person you are buying the car from really knows their stuff there are probably going to be all sorts of little problems.

That's not necessarily true. My car is modded with quite a few items and I have never abused the car whatsoever. I have never engaged in a street race or taken the car to the strip. The car has never been near the 7400 redline or hit the rev limiter.....I hardly even VTEC.
My car is rarely driven and only saw about 400 miles last year.
I agree, that most modded cars are abused in one way or another but you can't generalize and put ALL modded cars in the same category. Anyone would be lucky to buy my car.....it looks great (in my opinion), has been very well serviced, and never abused.
The only reason why I wouldn't buy a modded car is because I like to mod my car based on my particular liking, but if I found a modded a car that appealed to me visually and I knew was taken care of well, I would buy it.
well, i think it's wrong of some people to brag about their cars like they modded it themselves. like most do out there. they have no knowledge of the mods and etc.
however, it's different buying a modded car. for instance, buying a prelude with an intake and exhaust. there's nothing wrong with that. most prelude drivers don't run their cars into the ground like some hybrid civic hatch owners.
the car i just bought has i/e and the motor is very strong.
also if anyone buy's mark's car above it's in awesome shape. i can honestly pictures do his car no justice. i saw it for the first time a few months ago and i seriously couldn't believe how clean he kept it. awesome shape. anyone would be lucky to buy a used car in that condition, modded or not.
however, cars with turbos, internal motor work. definitely stay away from.

Thanks Paul
I decided to keep it though. I just bought a house with a two car garage so the car is going to be very happy in its new home. She won't be getting rid of the Infamous sticker any time soon.
yea i don't think i would buy a moded car just because it wouldn't have my personality in it. I bought my lude with 57,000 miles on it and a girl owned it. It was in good condition but the clutch blew at 62,000, maybe she had a heavy left foot ot something. But it was modless. Now it has a lot of stuff done and i think that actually degrades the value. I see a lot of cars sell with mods but never for what the owners want. You usually have to find some highschool kid who doesn't know any better. Anyway i don't plan on selling my lude ever.I'm 17 now and have already put over 6500 into my 96 vtec lude and would like to have the car forever. Just thought i would share that

Mark
Mark,
I totally respect the fact that you completely baby your car but in all honesty, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!? The car you own is a sport coupe. It is meant to be driven hard to a certain extent. Never bringing the car to the redline is not necessarily a good thing either. You are missing out on the excitement and enjoyment your car has to offer you and that is just sad IMO. Remember you're not driving a Cadillac, you're driving a prelude that was meant to be driven, not sitting and putting around. DRIVE HER, she will appreciate you more and you will learn to appreciate her more. I'm not saying you have to street race and drag race, but rev her out a little bit. Take her down a tight back road and use it for what it's worth. The prelude is certainly not worth sitting and never seeing what it's capable of. And i'm sure what it's capable of is far more than you want, but at least get half way there. This car didn't win the car&driver 10best award every year it was out just for it's looks, but for the all around package you get. And from what i can understand from these boards, you're not taking advantage of this. This is just my .02 cents and this goes out to every other prelude owner out there.
I understand where you are coming from Tom, my friends and family all say the same thing, "why do you even have that car if you're not going to drive it."
I know Preludes and all Honda's in general are made to rev high and can withstand the abuse but I've built my car around physical appearance, therefore I don't drive it much so it stays in the same condition and can compete in shows. I know my car is nothing compared to the many show cars that are out there but I just enjoy attending shows and talking to people who take interest in my car at the events.
As for taking her out on the road, don't get me wrong, I get very excited when I'm on my way to take the car out for some exercise. If the car hasn't been on the road in a while, I'll take it up to about 6500 through 3rd just to let the VTEC engage but by then I've already passed everyone on the road, there is no reason to push it even more and endanger anyone else on the road. I'm 25 and my life is worth too much to be fooling around on the highways (getting married next year and just bought a house). We all know how populated the roads are getting and how dangerous it is to test the abilities of your car on residential roads and highways, so I don't like to do it. I know what the car is capable of and I know the power is there if I ever need it.
Normally I shift gears at about 3000 or under and never really push the car hard. I may not drive the car to its potential but, I'll tell you what, I don't have the problems that many people on the boards have. I don't get locked out of my gears and I don't have a grinding sound while trying to shift into third like I hear many say they are experiencing. I'm still on the original clutch and it shows no sign of slipping. For me, it's piece of mind knowing that I'm not going to be spending a few grand to get my shift forks and syncros rebuilt.
The car runs even stronger than the day I bought it, and hopefully it will stay that way because I plan to keep it the rest of my life. If you take care of your car it will take care of you.
Once I move into my house I will drive the car more often because I will be with the car. For the past year it has been in a garage about 45 minutes from my house because I don't have a garage where I live. After I had all the work done, I just wanted to make sure it remained in great condition so I rented a garage to keep it in. I'm sure once the car and I are under the same roof, I'll be out with it every weekend just to get away from the little woman
