Serious problems!!!!!!!!

O.K. My friend and I were driving the lude pretty hard one night (not anything more than normal) and on the way home i heard this quiet knocking noise. You could barely hear it when it was idling but as you acclerated it got worse. Well, I didnt think it was a big deal so I turned it off and went to sleep. Then the next morning I turned the car on and it was knocking really bad, but I drove it home anyway. Well, it was driving fine until I was almost home and then whenever I let off the gas the car would stop. So pretty much the car had to have gas to keep going. When I got it home I checked the oil and it was completly dry. I just changed the oil myself like a month ago, and there is no leaks or anything especially to lose 5 quarts worth of oil. Well, I put oil in the car and now it runs (doesnt need gas all the time like before), but it knocks like no other, so im scared to drive it. I have been listening to the knocking and when I give it gas the knocking like skips and then starts again. It almost sounds like metal is bouncing in my engine or something. Then today I also noticed below my exhaust something black and watery is coming out. Sorry so long but does anybody know what the hell is going on.

Usually, one of the first things to go are the big end bearings. These usually suffer first with oil starvation.

Only way to tell for certain is to strip it down.

Does anybody know how much this would cost and is it still safe to drive the car even though it is knocking.

well, one is on the way courtsey of lakemount, but its still like 4 weeks until it gets here. He said its probably fried piston rings because of the oil coming out of the exhaust.

When that happened to my car, it was bearings bouncing all over the lower end of my engine. WOOT! Had to get a replacement engine.
Not a fun thing, especially when you could use that money for a turbo or something.

I hate to say it, but yeah, it sounds like you have spun a bearing.

i have the same thing but different symptoms. it knocks when the engine is fully warmed up. it knocks when its on idle ONLY and when i gas it, it stops knocking. also when im pressing the clutch or press the brake pedal while on IDLE i can make the knocking sound go on and off. weird?? last time it was the generic cold-air intake which was hitting the hood. but now i put on a short ram and it knocks only on those symptoms. im not losing any power whatsoever and it drives like normal. although once in awhile i hear this HISSING sound but thats w/ the cooling system but not anything involving metal hitting metal.. but this knocking is ****in annoying. it goes rat-tat-tat-tat like a machine gun. what could it be? might be the distributor? hopefully nothing internal..

pls help asap

You will make the damage worse. Its best not to drive it once you here a noise like that, until you get it checked.

You really don't want to drive it, trust me.

mine was knocking pretty bad like that for a while... i think it turned out to be the main bearings.... it only cost a little over 120 to get them replaced....

Yup I know for sure it's your main bearings cuz i had the same symptoms. If you keep driving your car it'll get louder and worse until ...BOOOM engine blows.
