Yeah I drill the holes myself, I have a 4G bumper in my basement I line it up perfect everytime (now).
I guess you can kind of see them here
Pretty *** if they can't drill some holes for ya. And about your gelcoat...that's why I hate most other companies' carbon fiber products. I didn't know you had that much trouble with it.
Anybody can do a hood. It's flat and you can do a wet layup and just work out the airbubbles. These guys use a gelcoat polyester resin (cheap) and just buff it when it's done. That is BS in my opinion, the gelcoat will not hold up to UV exposure long and will yellow a lot sooner. I use high quailty epoxy resins, and my stuff gets sanded and a polyurethane topcoat
http://www.endura.ca/topcoatsover.htm# the Clear 100 with "exceptional" UV protection. My top coat is also abrasion resistant and looks great, now that I have a guy that knows how to put it on.
Gelcoat, even with UV 'Stabilizers' will not last very long. It's my use of high quality materials like makes it more expensive.
1 - epoxy resins, not smelly polyester resins that give you damage
2 - Vacuum Bagging, that's a lot of throw away materials for every lip. But you get the strongest product with te most efficent resin to fabric ratio
3 - Polyurethane top coat, extra sanding and coating
But if you want cheap, buy cheap. It's your call of course.
