Secondaries

Just curious if anyone has removed the secondary butterflies from their h22 and did cause the sound from your throttle body to change drastically?

Don't know about the sound but plenty of people have done it if they went aftermarket ecu i.e p28 or something similar.

Most people don't go through the trouble of using the p72 but the little gain isn't worth imo.

The secondaries were already removed when i purchased the car but im not sure if they were done the right way. And what slight gain from not having them might i get. I hear you lose mid range power?

You don't really gain anything since they open up at the high end. If everything was equal and you just removed the butterflies, then yes, you would lose some low end power (but not that much).

What is the proper way of removing them? It just sounds a little too raspy when i press on the gas.

That I cannot say. I hear some people just "tape" them open. I say "tape" because I think they actually basically just leave them open and not physically remove them unless you have time to take the whole thing apart.

If you want to remove the butterflies just get the blacktrax manifold spacer. Then plug the vacuum line.

Ya know, I have never heard of someone claiming that their IABs are causing a raspy sound. Either way, my vote is for LEAVE IT ALONE.

+1 on leaving it alone.

I tried it once when I had my H23. Only thing I noticed was a less low end power and the intake sound got louder at lower RPMs.
