Hello everyone im new here(if you cant tell by the name lol).
Ive just put my CRX in the local auto trader...Im in the market for a 92-96 Prelude VTEC...how hard are they to find?, cause a while back I was going to purchase a B16A Del sol...but they are near impossible to find.
What is the average price of a prelude with a good body...miles do not really matter considering im going to build the motor for turbo or NA...any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
well, you wont find a 92 vtec unless its been swaped because they started making vtec engines in 93-96... the best year for you to find is 93-95 vtec.. excluding 96 because of ODB-II...
I'd say you can find a nice 93-95 vtec w/ decenet miles in the 8-10k range.. EASY.. some people find them for 6-8 but aroud here the Si's were going for 7ish.... so it just depends on if you get lucky.
i heard there were only 5,000 VTEC SI models sold here in the U.S. --- does anyone know if there is any truth to this???
i found my 95 lude recently for 10K with about 67K on it, leather interior but pretty much stock everything else.
i found it at getauto.com which is a pretty good source. I would also recommend calling dealerships around town (maybe honda dealerships)... and tell them to call you first if they find any preludes traded in. That's your best bet since if a lude is traded in, they'd rather call you than list it on the paper first so they don't have to spend extra on advertising.
They were hard to come by because they sell so fast.
buy an S model and drop a jdm h22 in it.... not only will u get a 4th gen VTEC, your insurance price will be a little bit lower. You can always change the interior if you want the leather and etc. Everything is literally upgradable.

damn on 5,000 no wonder i never see 4th gen vtecs riding around the sts around here i think i have only seen two or three that i know of drivin around my area.
I have seen 2 driving around before. The ones I see for sale are like 9-13k with usally high miles. I'd try to track down a S or Si for cheap and swap a jdm and you'll end up having a faster car for less money. If you want to go turbo you can even just stick with the Si motor which is good for trubo.

I've been searching for a number for so long. I wanted to find out exacts, like how many 93 VTECs blue-green.They did have a 92 VTEC, just not in the US...They are a pain in the arse to find. I just hooked my friend up with an SI because we couldn't find a VTEC...

I think if you goto Honda.com or call them up they have all that kinda stat info...
Does anyone know if they are numbered or if there's a way to find what the # of your car is... specially if you're a Vtec SI with only 5,000 sold here. Kinda like the Type-R Integra's with their badges...???

If I wasn't already in love, I would buy the DOC's car too...It's probably a high13-low14 second car right away, and you know all the work was done by a PRO!!! Unless you want a bone stocker, in which case just keep looking. It took me 1 1/2 HARD months(probably more like 6 months compared to the average person) to find my SWEETY!!!

That was the 1st thing my agent said when I gave her the VIN, "OH, a VTEC," that's the more expensive one to insure.
yup, that's why you should buy an S and do a jdm h22a swap.... saves some money on insurance.....
