S2000 steering wheel fitment

Hey Guys,

It's in reference to Charlie's post:

Anyone know if it's possible to convert a s2000 steering wheel to fit in a 4th gen?

But a month later (see 2nd last post):

http://www.preludeonline.com/showthr...threadid=31672

So - I guess it's directed at Charlie, did it ever eventuate? I've managed to get my hands on a wheel so...

IIRC, Charlie never got the hub to fit correctly and scrapped the project. Something about the 4G steering hub being smaller than the S2K wheel.

Sorry I missed this thread.

The s2k hub will not fit the 4th gen sprocket. You will have to either cut off the s2k hub and weld the 4th gen on, or buy a civic type r wheel

Thanks Guys!

Cutting off the s2k hub and welding the 4th gen one - sounds sorta crude, is it possible to join these two parts together with good accuracy?

You always have the option of buying the 5th gen OEM wheel (3-spoke) or like Charlie said the CTR.

Is the CTR a bolt on unit? Like... let's say I bought a Spoon steering wheel with the hub for a CTR it'll fit on my 4th gen?

Yeah, but will the CTR one fit? I want to know because I want the Spoon wheel, and no one seems to be able to tell me if anyone makes an adapter that will fit. Is the Momo one universal?

Maybe I'll just order up a civic adaptor and hope for the best. Althought the spoon wheel has a 6 bolt pattern, I'm not sure of the spacing.

According to Marcucci it's a bolt on. Says any Honda wheel that came with an airbag should fit onto the 4th gen hub given it's not a 4ws those guys need Type-SH equipment.

Check my later posts. Not true. The 4g wheel is NOT compatible with the 5g or any of the newer (I think 96+) Civic wheels. It might be with the Civic pre-01 but I haven't verified it.

Yeah, me posting this is wholly unnecessary seeing how marcucci has already posted. I've had a rather arduous pm conversation with marcucci regarding the possibility of swapping an S2k wheel, or CTR/JDM ITR wheel into a 4th gen and no matter what, it comes down to hub incompatibilities. Grr, I thought that when I sold my 87 and bought my 94 I had moved into the generation of available aftermarket parts and open compatability ... apparently I didn't buy new enough for this mod to work.

So a CTR wheel won't fit?

If by "fit" you mean simply remove old wheel and put it on, that's affirmative, it will not fit, spline size is different between 4th gens and all 96 or 97+ honda/acuras.
