how do you know you are running really rich? do you have an air/fuel gauge? black soot on exhaust? what?

our cars run rich from the factory. A new fuelrail and aem FPR helped me solve that problem by turning down my FP

Do the basic tune up, spark plugs, maybe wires, distributor, rotor, etc. Check your O2 sensor as well, it MIGHT be loose. What I did was block off my EGR valve and advanced my timing, this got rid of my black soot on my exhaust.

All Prelude's run rich.

Apexi has two answers. They sell an Super Air Fuel Controller (S-AFC) for non-VTEC applications, that allows the user to dyno tune and control the ECU's fuel curve.

They also have a VTEC Air Fuel Controller (V-AFC) which controls which RPM VTEC engages and disengages.

I've seen these run on everything from S models, to turbo-ed Preludes. They're worth it. But good luck finding one, the S-AFC and V-AFC might as well be gold. Apexi is on a national back order.

I don't have an air/fuel pressure gauge but from what I hear all they are is a light show anyhow.....

I know that I am running rich cause I can see and smell the black smoke that makes my eyes hurt and smells like rooty poo...

I have done a tune up in the last 6 months changing the spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, PCV valve, air filter and oil but today it just hit me that changing my O2 sensor might do something if not I am going to buy new cat too....
