RSR exhaust vs. Custom Piping

I ahve an RSR catback on my 4g prelude (h23a). It is really great sounding, but I dont really like the tip and wanna get dual DTM tips. Therefore I am thinking of selling the RSR and going custom. What are the pros and cons of keeping the RSR over going custom?

Also, custom will be around $300 for mandrel bent 2.25 piping and a nice muffler. What do you think I could sell the RSR for? Do you think I can get $450? Cuase they are really hard to find and I have had mine for less than 1 month and less than 1000 miles.

What do you all think? -Jordan

I dunnos Jordan..come on you drove to Buena Park for this steal and now you don't want it? Hmmm....also RSR is out of business so it's whatevers to ppl so I don't think you could sell it for that much. Keep it man. DTM is cool and all but you got a good catback so keep it.

True... Dont get me wrong the tip is nice, but it just seems like more of a civic/ricey kinda tip, rather than a more stylish type tip with the prelude deserveses. I also find the large tip to be a bit more rice looking rather than 'classy' looking, and if i end up getting a WW RS kit i dont know if the large tip will go with it.

I would just change the tip, but its not worth it. For an extra $40, plus what the exhaust is worth I should just go custom.

I dont know, I am really deliberating here. The sound with the aem cai/dc header is absolutely perfect though.

I think I will keep it unless i can sell it for like $450 or something. Cause then I can spend $350 on custom exhaust/removal of rsr and install of custom, and then have an extra $100 to put toward something else... I just kind feel like the tip is more big looking than styling like a prelude should be. I mean it would look perfect on a civic, i just dont really know if it goes with the prelude's look.

I have a custom set up with dual DTM tips, and I got the whole setup for a tad over $500, around 2 years ago. You should definitely get it cheaper since you have more resources down in Cali.

I'd like to show you pics, but someone rearended me and my end is all smashed. I would be interested in your exhaust a little bit down the road.

www.brullenexhaust.com will custom make you any diameter, tip style, polished/painted(stainless steel regardless), quiet/loud exhaust that you want. I actually have a Brullen exhaust(i still have it if you're interested) but just replaced it with an RSR. I know what you're saying though about the tip. The brullen had a beautiful dual tip while the RSR has the single. The quietness of the RSR is making me more than happy though so it kind of is a good thing for me. Here are pics of the Brullen on my lude:

If anyone is interested drop me an email and we'll work out a deal.

Oh So your the guy that wont say where to get an azect kit

Anyway, the problem with your exhaust is you said it is loud. I want something the same sound as the RSR but with the different tip. Thats why custom, cause there are milions of muffler possiblites... Unless you would sell just the catback piping? Cause then I can just get another muffler. I can get new custom piping 2.25 mandrel bent SS for a bit under $150 locally, so you would have to be able to beat that.

As far is the tip... It is nice, but i only like those type of tips on dark cars (green, black, etc). On a red car I am not that fond of them. I would rather get dual DTM (slanted) tips if I am gonna go that route.

In my humble opinion, I think the dual tip DTM looks more ricey than the RS*R. I haven't ever seen a Civic with an RS*R.

DTMs can get a little out of control. They look great on german cars like VWs and Bimmers. If you want dual tips, get tips that are like my brullen ones. They're more stylin IMHO.

The RSR is a really nice exhaust. I am just saying the tip looks kinda ricey. And yes, every civic i see with an exhaust has a tip looking like the rsr along with a huge spoiler. This is just my opinion - im not trying to criticize everyone's opinions or taste.

The brullens are nice, but that sounds like more of a sales pitch Out of curiousoty what does a new brullen cost? I might get one of the silent one if the price is good.

Jordan, i didn't mean to come across as some caniving sales sh!thead, haha. I already understand that you don't want a loud exhaust so mine is obviously out of the question. I was just saying, get a dual tip style like my brullen pictured above. Gabeesh?

DTM on a Honda =
Brullen =

I got a brullen exhaust, Very impressed, you can specify basically ANYTHING you want [round can, polished can, dual tip, resonated tip, basically anything!!!!! any tip at ANY cut, and also can size = round , oval, big/small] They also have 2 different type of packings, if you want it silent they will make it silent! I live right close the the actually Brullen Shop in Markham, Ontario. Very good guys! and they make a HIGH quality exhaust!

Check my pic. I got a custom peice done, polished can, 3 inch" angle cut non-resonated tip. PS:get a resonated tip if you want it NO to be loud.
