My exhaust tip from my rsr exmag is touching my rear WWRS lip. Will this melt my rear lip? should I cut some of my rear lip out so it doesnt touch the tip or should I just let it melt all over my new rsr exhaust?
it will melt it. just trim it away with a small saw or razor blade if you wana be there all day. i wouldnt let it melt it cause im asuming that the lip is painted and it will ruin the paint most likly
The instructions for the WWRS say that you have to lower the exhaust 1" and extend it 1". I also have a RS*R ExMag, but when I went to a local exhaust place nearby the guy modded it perfectly his own way. Instead of having the exhaust to specs from WWRS, just go to any local exhaust shop and have them make the top edge of the tip lined with the the edge of the WWRS, and with about a 1/4" gap or so in between the exhaust and the rear lip.
I drove around with my exhaust and the WWRS for about a day before going to the exhaust shop, and the paint bubbled immediately. Unless you don't care about the paint, I'd definitely get it fixed ASAP.
go get another rubber exhaust hanger from autozone and "bolt" it to the last stock rubber hanger closest to the muffler to let it hang a little lower...works like a charm...
oh man I have to lower the exhaust? I am pushing it on ground clearance already, I like driving over speedbumps with no worries. I've been driving with it the way it is for 2 weeks now and my lip is slightly melted to a curve where the tip touches the exhaust tip. It looks fine now, but I am sure it'll get worse. I like the idea of just replacing the rubber hanger but I don't want to drop the exhaust too low. maybe just half an inch or so should do it. how much "lip to exhaust tip" clearance do you have with the new rubber hanger rayslude?
oh and BTW the guy who sold me the exhaust, it didnt come with any gaskets, so I used the stock gasket for the cat-catback connection, and I didnt use any gasket at all on the axleback connection. Did yalls exhaust come with an axleback gasket? Will my car expell poisonous fumes into my car if I dont have an axleback gasket?
I've seen where some people have taken a piece of sheet aluminum and trimmed it to just cover the sides and upper part of the exhaust cutout to use as a heat shield. It is limited to just the cutout area itself, and it does sound a bit on the "ghetto" side, but it doesn't look as bad as it seems. I'm not sure how they fastened it though- maybe pop rivets???

I've got Greddy Evo2 exhaust so my tip is offset. If I didn't lower my muffler, here's no way it would have fit in the first place. The only time I've scraped my muffler is backing out onto a really steep grade, and that only scraped the tip a little. The rest of the exhust is tucked up in the exhaust tunnel so it never gets scraped.
Now, for the gaskets, i'd call an RSR dealer and order new gaskets. Do it right the first time. I'm surprised you don't have any leaks so far.
My car was tucked with coilvers before, and I never scraped with the ExMag. I loved it because it doesn't hang low like Apex'i or Greddy exhausts, and fits perfectly flush like an OEM exhaust. I wouldn't worry too much about it hanging low and scraping, and if you're going to get a new rubber mount get one that is made for domestics. IIRC, they're usually a bit longer, but the problem with them is that they're not as sturdy therefore the exhaust can shake.
^^^i second that...my rsr fits flush with my accord rear lip no touching, no melting...and like kb798, my junk is slammed and doesnt hang low or scrape on driveways

I needed to lower my Tanabe SHM to fit with my accord rear lip... I used Powerflex poly-urethane exhaust mounts. But the muffler part of the SHM is so huge I scrape it every once in a while when I don't drive very slow over speedbumps. Groundclearance: 4" and lowered on Flex's.
Exhaust shop dropped mine a tad... Same setup as you...

I scrape on speedbumps on my header and I'm on 15" not lowered with 205/55 tires. my exhaust manifold hits... frigging sucks. can't understand hwo people around here can drive soo low.. I have apexi world sport.. i used an extra hager to clear my wwrs lip.
My DC Sports only rubs on the super high speedbumps, and we have a railroad crossing around here that has to be the absolute worst in the USA. The surrounding pavement has so many scrapes and nicks out of the road from all the hits. To cross it you have to come to a total stop and crawl over it. I hear a tiny bit of rubbing on that, but it is at a wicked angle- and it sounds like it is rubbing somewhere in the front on that crossing.
My exhaust sits about athe same height as stock, and is the oval shaped muffler that has the flat bottom, so it doesn't ride as low as some others. The 4" tip hangs about a half inch below the stock rear lip, and in 10+ years it hasn't damaged any surrounding paint.

I was worried at first when I saw how close the tip sits to the rear lip, but after carefully watching it for 13 years, and regularly wiping down the stainless muffler and tip, there are no signs yet of the heat affecting the paint near the tip.
I have a lip kit waiting to be mounted and I assume that will make the current gap that much smaller, and at that point I'll probably need to use some kind of heat shield, but -surprisingly- the paint still looks 100% after all this time. I admit I'm surprised myself, but it's lasted this long. Hopefully the "13"th year won't be unlucky for me...
