You need to keep it clean, try Gunk bug and tar remover.

Burlington County here.
BigB, don't ruin the exhaust by sanding and repainting.
Go to Home Depot and get a product called NOXON. I'm not sure what department it is in but it is an all purpose metal polish in a medium shade of green bottle. You can use it on aluminum, stainless, chrome, brass, copper, etc. I guarantee it will get rid of the rust and will keep the exhaust looking like new. I use it on every part of my engine and exhaust. My brother used to use it on his old school chrome rims to get rid of the rust.
You will not be disappointed.
Mark

I don't think the rust is due to the exhaust. He said it was due to NEGLECT

yea i'm not saying the exhaust is rusting, just the peices of the chrome tip. It sits around outside now so i would expect it to. I was just looking for a product to help protect it. I'll try home depot and see what i come up with.
thanks

Thats because water gets stuck in there... and you know that. Thats why I make sure to dry out my sunroof area after washing.
