rotors...

I am going to get some brembo crossed drilled and slotted rotors for my car but I can only afford to buy 1 set at a time....Should I get the rear or the front first??? What kind of brake pads should I get??? Thanks.

Fronts!!! They do all the hard work of stopping the car. I still have stock rear brakes and have no real intention of changing them.

As for pads, any 'fast road' pad will be ok. I personally use EBC Redstuff pads and they are good.

Since my front brakes WERE in bad need of being replaced, I put new Powerslots on the front, new Hawk HP+ pads all around, Goodridge ss lines all around, and everything is GREAT ... but I have more brake dust (common to MOST brake pad upgrades). Fronts are all you really need to worry about, esp if on a limited budget and can only do one at a time. I just left my stock rotors on the rear, and I can't complain one bit. Good luck...

I have the same set up. Powerslotts in the front and stock in the rear. The only reason I upgraded was because the stock ones were warped pretty badly. I am pleased with them.

i heard that cross drilled/slotted rotors didnt really do much and that going with brembo blanks was the way to go. is this true?

When it comes down to it, anything you do to take away from the surface area/contact area of the rotor, you take away from braking power. What slots and cross-drilling do is to help cool the pads to help reduce "brake-fade," which is more of something you have to worry about on a track. I've never had brake fade, so I kinda just bought my Powerslots for looks, but they stop a HELL of a lot better than my POS stock front rotors... it also helps that I upgraded to the VTEC size front rotor & caliper, honestly.

Hey where did you guys get all the hardware to change over to the vtec size on the rotors and calipers? And how much did it cost? Also how much do calipers for a legend cost?

Peace

leaving your rear stock would be alrite. general rule of thumb is that your rear brakes should be one step down from your front brakes always. this is to prevent lockups and losing control! your front brakes do most the work anyways. just upgrade the pads in your rears

True to an extent. But we have proportioning valves for that. The OEM rear brakes are smaller, because smaller brakes are cheaper to put on. Manufacturers only need to put enough braking power in to compensate for the car's power.

You'll need a 5mm shim when installing these, as the Legend rotors are thicker.

I just picked up a set of Endless NA-Y. They might be a bit pricey, depending on what you're looking for, but they're nice pads. The Endless VN's are more of a baseline/street pad, with excellent cold braking, low noise and dusting. Probably comperable to Axxis or AEM.

-Erik

PS- I got mine from James Chan, he can get anything from Endless.

I got my VTEC calipers from PreludeGod, in CT (I think it was his old pair), and my VTEC Powerslot rotors from Nipponpower.com, as well as my Hawk HP+ pads (front AND rear) and Goodridge SS brake lines. The calipers I got, rebuilt, for 200 bucks, the lines, about 120, the pads, about 130 for both sets, and the rotors for around 200 (it's been awhile, so I forget the exact costs of everything).

hey

I got my slotted, but i have one problem. The new rotors are thinner then the stock ones. SO currently my rear brakes are doing most of the braking. I get MAD fade right now. Hopefully the rears wear down quick so the fronts get more contact.

That's what shims are for.
