rotor n brake pad help

recently i bought a pair of brembo rotor for the front (looks like the stock ones but its brembo) anyways i installed them on n to save some money i decided to use my old brake pads which is almost new , 1 month old i think.but the prob is i think its some cheap aftermarket one cause i took it to a place wher i bought it from n they installed too. so my prob is when i step on the brakes it wont grip, i have been driving for about 3-4 days now, almost 150 miles so far n its still not gripping. i tried going very fast n step on it hard, it makes a knocking sound where i can feel it through my brake pedals, like its trying to grip n let go n the same time. the only thing i can think of is my brake pads are really cheap so if someone agree with me on this i will go n get some better pads tomorrow. thx for the help

I would swap pads (something like PBR Metal Masters or even the stock pads). Cheap pads will make the brakes feel crappy b/c the Honda pads were of better quality.

Second, I would bleed your brakes as well.

Personally, I use PBR Metal Masters everyday, and I use Hawk HP Plus for autocross/lapping days.

definately try bleeding your brakes. also, have you taken the pads back off to look at their condition? if not, take em out and look for crumbling or cracking. im curious to see what the ultimate problem is here.

a few of us did some rough driving this weekend.. afterwards, one of em was having problems with stopping.. the pads were new the day before.. here's what they looked like after we checked em the next day after the rough driving

i know this is a diff situation [road racing] but still keep your safety first and at least check the pads.

glad you got it taken care of

those in the picture were porterfield brake pads. i believe they were composed of kevlar and some kinda metal. they are used for 'competition' but we came to the conclusion that they are a better autocross pad than a road race pad. 1.5 minutes or so of hard braking vs 25 minutes of crazy ass braking from 60-80 mph [that was even pretty slow] NON STOP. his brakes actually caught on fire during the first session. pretty sure that was the anti squeal. the brakes on my car faded quickly and smoked like a *****, but i never had any fire.

since we are on the subject and you have found out your problem ill go ahead and show you a couple more pics from this.

his rotors actually turned colors due to the crazy intense heat..

here's the side of one of the pads. all 4 front ones had turned pink and were crumbling

one more

didnt mean to hijack your thread, just thought id share. i apologize if it offended you. glad to see you got yours taken care of.

anyone use CF brake pads? they do make them, don't they? some sort of CF/metal compound?

and i thought kevlar pads would hold up alot better then that, thats messed up! Do they all do that, after that little time, if they do, that's pretty ****ty!

and pbr metal masters are great for the daily driver...i will keep on using them, till i can afford some crazy brake setup, after of course my car is really fast and needs the crazy brakes setup!

Man that's nuts... those pads are shot.

oh and by the way...u should drive like 500 miles before really braking hard with your brembos..

I have axxis ultimate pads and LOVE them... they stop hella good... I highly recommend them..

NEVER race on brake pads that have not been broken in properly...

... too lazy to get technical, just search on google to find out why.
