Review of 4bidden's replacement short shifter.

Installed two of 4bidden's short shifters today on two 4th gen VTEC's. Pics are from my car. First impressions: The shifter looks very well made and solid The OEM shifter is UGLY in comparison.

Here's a picture of the shifter installed, without the shiftboot. I used the middle mounting hole of the 3 available.

The finished product.

Another pic.

And another.

I have only driven with the shifter for about 10 minutes so far but it feels pretty damn nice. The throws are definately shortened, but I wouldn't say it feels like a hardcore race throw by any means...it probably would on the top hole. Shifts feel solid, controlled, and smooth. I haven't had a chance to drive hard with it really yet, just one downshift and it seemed very nice having a shorter/solid throw. The only thing that kinda bothers me is how it appears to sit very far to the right side, as you can see in the later pics. I'll have to look at the other car and see if his sits to the right like mine. Also I noticed that i make contact with the front of the plastic liner that holds the shifter boot in when shifting into 3rd. It doesn't prevent or make shifting more difficult, but it does make some small contact.

Overall I'd say that it is a quality piece and works well. I think it adds some enjoyment to driving. I bet I'll really like it when driving more spiritedly. We'll see when that comes.

you know... there is an "Official" review thread... which is where this should be.

The Official Forbidden Short Shifter Reviews

might want to copy your review into there, and delete this thread.
