Resonator removal, butterfly valve hoses, black vacuum box... questions/ideas..
I removed the intake resonator in my car a few weeks ago, leaving the "2 stage" u-pipe still intact.
Today, I pulled the u-pipe out, and I capped off the hose that goes to it. That hose goes back to that little black vacuum box. I was wondering how many of those hoses are really necessary. I know that one of them has to control the vacuum pressure that's sent to intake butterfly valve. Since I capped off that hose, and removed the butterfly valve.. do I still need the hose that it starts from?
With the entire resonator removed now, it's really loud at WOT, starting at about 3000-3500 RPM. But, I really can't distingiush the VTEC crossover anymore. It's pretty weird. I was expecting it to be significantly louder. It does still pull harder when I hit 5000 though.
So, anyone who might still have a stock airbox in place, have you been in this situation? I really don't think there's a problem with it... but the fact that VTEC is not a lot louder, was a slight concern of mine.
Dr. James.. any input?
Thanks again guys..
Erik
