Resonator...I know, I know..

I tried the search but couldn't find what I wanted, so here's my question to you all.

At this moment in time, I have got the front bumper off the car having it resprayed to rid it off stone chips. Therefore, the resonator is exposed and easily accessible.

What I want to know is, is it really worth removing it??
I have an HKS short intake and want to keep it, I know the AEM CAI etc requires removal of the resonator for the filter to fit, but I am happy enough with the HKS kit.

Basically, to those that have removed it, did the results impress you (nice induction noise etc etc) or did you wonder what all the fuss was about?

Thanks for reading/replying

i have a AEM CAI and i love the induction noise... its not really that loud unless under full throttle acceleration, and who expects (or wants) an engine to sound quiet under WOT??? you can also hear the air being sucked in at idle from outside the car, but not really inside the car.... bottom line i love it!

well, since you already have an aftermarket intake, it will make 0 difference since the intake is not connected to the resonator. If you do take it out, you will be removing some dead weight, that's about it.

not entirely true because if he still has the vacuum line connected with the resonator than it is not letting the maximum amoutn of air up through that hole... Id say take it off for three reasons: 1. More air, 2. Cool noise, and 3. that whole resonator box junk weighs at least 5 pounds and anywhere where you can shave pounds is a plus.

Remove your fender liner and remove the resonator. Then you have to put the filter in and attach it to the piping.

Resonator are used to quiet intake/exhaust noises. they exist in both places.

You'll need to remove your intake resonator to install the CAI. If you do asearch in the 4th gen form 'm sure you'll find good instructions on doing this. CHECK THIS LINKhttp://www.preludeonline.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28767&highlight=how+to+ install+a+CAI

The stock resonator is a jumbalia of small plastic tubes and butterflys that regulate the noise and level of air coming into your intake.
