Replacing wheel stud?

Ok, when I went to have my new tires balanced, the shop snapped off one of the studs on the front passenger side... and offered to fix it for $25. I said screw that, and spent a whole $1 on a new stud. Now how the hell does it go on? A friend told me to just use a hammer and bang out the hold one, but I'm not sure if that's correct, much less how to put the new one in. Thanks to all....

Steps:
1) Bang old broken one out with hammer.
2) Push new one in through the back.

You won't be able to push the new one in all the way, but when you tighten the lug nut, it will pull the stud to where it's supposed to be.

before you guys tell this man the wrong thing i just had the same problem you have to take it to a garage or dealer and they have to press the hub off and replace the stud then press it back on. I tried for hours and it wouldn't go i called the dealer and thats what they said. Also they want $100 to do it

thats they way the "dealer", the one who makes the money wants you to do it. If you have a nice hammer, put the stud in as far as you can by hand, which isn't far, then whack it hard, it will go in, and it will rub the threads when your doing it. After I got it in, I used the impact driver to thread the stud with a lug nut and all was fine. Cost me an hour and a buck for the stud.

I also need a new wheel stud... YOu guys from palmdale should come help me out and then also help me out with my rear brakes/rotors and also my koni's and also that tanabe front strut bar, tanabe lower front tie bar and DC rear lower tie bar

I dont think anyone would believe how many parts I have sitting in the garage waiting to go in... Not to mention those rims I am still about to get, but am Having my friend hold onto for a bit

I wouldnt mind getting everything done before LFW although I only have the 30 and 31st to work on the Lude (school) so I doubt it.

Why don't you install most of the stuff your self? It's not that hard to do and you have a shop class so it's not like you don't have a clue. Ask Alan(forthgeneration) we did his pads and rotors. There is nothing difficult about it it just took and hour or so of our time.

Drive up here Jordan, we'll show you how to do this kinda stuff. As phildeez said, rust, overtorquing will do it. You don't need to take it to a shop. My dad and I did it in about 5 minutes on my old 90 Accord.

The shop is strict aobut working on your car when you have not yet taken the course (hence brakes/suspension). Its actually funny... I have rebuilt 305 and 350 chevy motors and a handfull of manual transmissions, yet I dont want to do my own brakes since without a knowledgable person assistanting me.

Main problem I have is time... I have been and will be insanely busy for the next week and a half.

Ryan: I may take you up on that (and expand my welcome with the rest of my suspension stuff ). Would you have any time next Wednesday, late afternoon (29th), Thursday, or Friday morning/afternoon? I'd love to get all this sh*t on before LFW, and my last final is the 29th, Wednesday morning.

I think Ill try to get some kids at the autoshop to do my brake stuff, so that would leave struts and 3 tie rods. Probably a half day job for 2 people, or less with more help (*hint-hint* brendon, alan )

Anyway, just let me know. If your busy, its cool, but I'd love to get my struts in and my car dropped for LFW... And extra help (and a service manual and spring compressor, of which I have neither) are always good.

I don't know my work schedule, but I do have a chem final Wednesday until around noonish. I also have spring compressors. I'll let you know when I'm free next week.

Ryan, when you get your work schedule hit me up on AIM - jdmenterprises. Brendon, ILl let you know. I will probably coordinate it around my schedule the most overlapping time that both you and ryan can help simultaneously.
