replacing parking brake components

I recently had my lude sitting up on blocks for about 1 yr. now my parking brake will not work & it appears that the assembly on the rear left wheel has rusted up pretty bad. I was able to work it so it did not lock the rear wheel up, but would like my parking brake back.

how can i test it to see if it is jsut that component or if it is the entire braking cable?

just have a buddy pull the break up and down ..

I would spray it with some release-all or WD40 to release the rust in the cable area/hing where its gripping the back brake and pull up/down on the e-brake til its free ..

Otherwise replace the rusted part... or use a wire brush and give it a good cleansing ..
