Replaced spun bearing more noises ?

My car spun a bearing and was idleing bad, smoking, and knocking / squeaking . i dropped the oil pan and i found that the engine had spun a bearing. so i replaced that bearing with a new one. the engine started up and sounded fine. no knocks or anything. but this is what happens...

as the engine warms up more or i drive it a block or so, it starts to gain a knocking sound that gets louder the more i drive it. if i let off the gas then the engine will die.

after letting the car cool down, i can start it again and it will run and sound smooth. but after it warms up for about 60 s or so it will start knocking again and will die if i don't keep gas on it.

can anyone offer any advise as to why the engine is doing this?

Because since ure bearing spun, you most likely bent a rod in the process.... causing the piston to possibly be hitting the bottom of the head.... depending on how much you drove it when ure bearing spun, you could have done a lot of damage to ure engine...... more then just spinning that bearing...

When I spun my bearing it screwed the cylinder head one road and destroyed my crankshaft competely costing all in all around 3 grand to fix...... not just 75 bucks in new bearings....

hmmm, Did you check all your bearings? Did you tighten the rod cap to spec? Most likely if the rod is bent, if you check the bearings again you will see alot of wear. If you have a vtec you should prolly stop driving it and get the proper repairs made. if its an Si or S, just do the engine swap because you can most likely do a full engine swap to h22 for cheaper.

I tried to replace my bearings 2 times, you do all that work get it toghter and get all excited because you fixed it and it sounds good. Then you drive it for a day or possibly 2 and boom, its dead again.

go to www.Hmotorsonline.com and just buy the h22a longblock, you will be happy when its all over. 1200$ isnt too bad.

thanks, guys. i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with the swap. as you said the car got pregressively worse after a day of driving it and with the sounds it's starting to make, i'm not entirely convinced that it didn't spin a bearing again.
