replaced rotors still shakin' any suggestions

ok, i totaled my 92 si and bought a 96 si... before looking here to find out about obdII. but that is beside the point.

on the highway at 60,70,80+ in intervals i get a bothersome wheel shake. also on deceleration at slow speeds. now i just got new rotors put on 2weeks ago. new tires w/4k miles on them, and 54,000 on the car.

my 92 had the same problem but when i replaced struts and it still did the same thing

any suggestions? maybe drive axles? maybe struts? I dont know.

thanks

there are a few different factors that could cause this....

1) wheels not being balanced properly or at all (possibly bent or not true)

2) bent or non-straight axles

3) bent hub

4) bad shocks/springs

I would check the balance of the tires first then dig deeper. Balancing is the cheapest thing to start with....the axles are usually $65-$100 per axle depending on if you go with remanufactured or new ones. This all gets progressively more expensive as you dig deeper into the problem.

the drivetrain is covered for the next 36k miles so i would prefer it to be the axles, but i am going to have the wheels balanced tomorrow.
thanks

Also check to be sure a belt is not broken in your sidewall. Look for dips or bulges. Another possible suspect is ball joints, but those are usually not the cause.

A good way to tell if it is your tires is to move the front tires to the back and the backs to the front and see if it helps.
