Replaced Dimmer relay... dash lights still don't work. Clues?

I replaced my dimmer relay and my dash lights still don't work. They still turn on but when I turn on the headlights nothing dims and the gauge lights don't turn on. Any other ideas?

I have already checked all the fuses I could find with a fuse tester and everything is working properly. I'm stuck

You do have a dimmer, right? .. I have the turning wheel on the left of my steering wheel, when its clicked on, the gas & temp are super bright, so I keep it at the highest setting before it clicks ..

Maybe give us some more details .. does your stereo dim ? (do you have aftermarket with illum. connect?) could be a good way to troubleshoot if you probe that wire with a meter when you turn on the headlights.

I do have a dimmer. It is all the way up without being clicked.

I burnt something when I wired my fog switch the incorrect way. Since then I haven't had any dash(gauge) lights and my gas/temp gauges don't dim. My alarm siren doesn't beep when arm/disarm the system and that is all I have found so far.

Hey,

Well looking at the wiring diagrams it looks like another culprit could be the "Dash Brightness Controller" or the Dash Brightness Control Unit". Both of these items are connected to the Fogs Switch harness.

The Controller is the switch next to the steering wheel and the Control Unit is behind the dash next to the clock.

any idea what the Control unit looks like

I guess I can tear into my dash again and see what is behind there.

It is about 4 inches by 3 inches by 1 inch. It is behind the smoked plastic peice on the passenger side of the dash. It made of sheet metal that has cooling vents in it. It has a single plug going into it. There is a drawing of it in the FAQ manual Electronic compnents locator. The more I think about it the more it sounds like the problem. Hopefully you can return the dimmer relay as it is most likely not the issue.

Good luck
