removing rev limiter?

I have a 92 Si automatic and I was hoping to find a way to either take off or raise my rev limiter so I can better launches for racing by power braking. Right now the limit is 2500 rpm's in any gear. I was wondering is it safe to take this off and if so how can I do it.

Not to be rude but do you know what the rev limiter is? You are saying your car will only rev to 2500rpm. I hope your cut off is 6800 like every other stock h23 ecu.

it is a stall speed put in automatic trannys, the tranny will stop spinning and hold at 2500 rpm. I dont think there is any way to change this. My guesses would be a hondata chip or an upgraded tranny. I've never heard of any aftemarket products for it.

You should do the levelten tranny buildup. They will raise your stall speed to whatever you want it. You can't raise the stall speed without replacing some parts. It isn't a chip or anything that would allow it to go higher.

Is there anyway your car's rev-limiter could just stop working? I put my exhaust on and someone wanted me to rev it up to see what it sounded like. Well, my rev limiter is usually at about 6,700...but when I reved it up it went all the way to 7000 and kinda made a "pop" noise. Scarey!

No. The pop noise you heard was the rev limiter. It kicks in at 6800 it could look on your tach to be anywhere from 6800-7200 depending on how off you tach is.
