Removing Axles from an Si

Okay long story short clutch/flywheel replacement procedure ends in broken CV joints so the axles have to come out. I already took off the calipers and brake rotors. Do I just bang the threaded spindle in the midle and the axles will slide out? Or do I have to remove the wheel hub and stuff?

took off the calipers and rotors? damn... that was completely unnecessary.

yea, just remove the nut and bang the middle and it'll slide out... might be a bit hard to remove

I could tell they were broken when my buddy rick grabed really hard and the axle and pulled it apart! that AND the fact that there is alot of grease running down from the bottom of the CVs.

Okay, I've been banging on it for a while with a hammer and a block of wood... should I just skip the wood?

I could pull the drivers side out with my hands, or use a small screwdriver to get leverage. you leabe the axle in the hub, you just disconnect the axles from the engine.

The pass side I used a pry bar coming across the oil pan in btw th pan and the cross member angle up against the axle piece and went at it with a hammer to get it loose, then just pulled it out by hand. Just don't pull apart the boots.
