Removing aftermarket alarm

I was looking through a friends helms manual for a wiring diagram, but couldn't make sense of it.

I've searched google and some forums for removal procedures, or even electrical diagrams, just so I can see what wires I'm playing with. I'm not an electrical buff, so it scares me a little The unit is located by the Trunk/Gas latch, by the fuse box.

Anyone have a nice little wiring diagram, or can give me a little hint as to where to look for it? I mean all I need is wires/colors and I'm sure with trial and error I could do it.

My car cranks but won't start, so I figure it's either coil pack, which is stock still, or maybe distributor . I've been reading on the site though, that an aftermarket alarm could be a cause. I've checked fuses and our local parts store said their tester is old, so it's inaccurate for a coil test :/ . Shanks a meelion.

Before you go though all that hoopla, check your main relay.

Well my fuel pump primes...so wouldn't that mean the main relay would be ok?

Not necessarily, just check it. It's not that hard. Here a pic with the location under the dash on the driver's side:

Well I found it. There's a little tab on the side facing the seat I've been pushing in in combo with pulling to get it out. Do you have a little trick to get her out? Mine seems to be a little stubborn. I'm goin' back out to mess with it some more.

There is a bolt on top to remove the whole thing, or you can keep trying to remove the inner part by prying on the tabs.

Ya, I got it out using a screwdriver for the tab and pliers. Contacts all look super clean.

None of the solder connections appear to have a ring burnt out of them? Can you post a picture?

I don't see any solder. But in your picture the main relay you have circled, you can see two distinct gold male ends. All of mine look clean. The gold female ends the wires are crimped into, look clean as well. I spot no solder though

I tried for pictures, but it's dark out, flashlight is a little dim, and my digi camera's flash is like super white bright, so the pics turn out unrecognizable.

You need to take the relay out of the sleeve. Compare it to the pictures in this thread:

I pulled it, and am now looking at it. The two points that are circled on that thread you gave me; mine look almost alike.

The same two soldered points seem to have a ring around them, while the others do not. I don't have a solder gun/solder available, I'll definately grab some tomorrow and re-solder this bizznatch.

I'm extremely excited to mess with this and see if it works ha.

You sir are welcome.

You still might want to replace it eventually, depending on how confident you are in your soldering job.
