buy or search for the prelude repair manual... it will be a lot easy with it
if you want to remove everything... evap, heater, compressor, drier, lines, condenser, blower..
i think the most difficult part will be to remove the dash to take out the heater, evap, blower... you will need something to join the heater hoses or to stop the water coming through them... and something to cover the evap and heater holes
dont know if you have to remove the bumper to remove the condenser and drier and part of the ac lines...
if you remove the compressor you will need a short belt...
i jus want 2 remove the ac compressor 4 now. then ill remove the rest after winter. any idea wat size belt?
take a string and loop it around your power steering pulley and crank pulley as if it where the belt. now pull it tightly a point on the string, measure it, and go to a parts store and tell them you need a belt that size with that many ribs
hey i am either in the middle or at the end of my a/c removal process. I just wanted to know if I needed to take out the whole heater unit and airflow tubes under my dash? I already took off the compressor, removed all the lines under the hood, removed the radiator looking thing, and the canaster that was attached to it. And i just removed the heater duct... do i need to keep that in there. I know it is winter right now and i really need my defrost but i'm not sure if it would work since i removed all of the other stuff from the compressor... any input would be greatly appreciated.
if you want a complete remove... you should take it out.. but in winter you will have a problem...
-you can leave the heater there...
-the a/c ducts, will work if you leave the blower (under dash), as they will split the air flow to different areas...
-if you will leave the a/c ducts and motor, you can remove the evaporator, and leave the evaporator plastic cover so that the bolwer air can go through the heater...
-if you remove the a/c ducts and blower you will probably feel the hot in the middle of the car
-if you remove the heater you will need to find at most 2 things to stop the water that goes to the heater (in/out)
-to know if the heater is working, when your car is at the normal running temp (3 bars) put the slider to hot position and the blower to the max... you will feel the hot if its working
ok thanks. i also got some input from a guy at a local autozone and he said that i need to leave the evaporator piece in there so that i dont have a whole in my firewall for external air to get in and so that the air from the blower can get through. Is there a different piece i could order to put there instead of having the old a/c piece (strictly to transfer heater air)? Also, were exactly is the tubes that provide water to the heater located at under the hood?
the hoses are behind the fuel injection... you can trace it with one long hose that goes from the thermostat to the valve in the back of the fuel injection.
about the hole in the firewall, you can put something there to cover it... i had half of a 20oz plastic bottle
no i was just going to keep the heater because i'll need it for defrost. but thanks for that. The major question was i heard something about jumping the two water lines together so i dont get water somewhere were i dont need it. but if i didn't mess with those lines behind the injectors like you were talking about i shouldn't have to worry about that... right. I am keeping the heater.
if you will keep the heater you dont need to do anything to those water hoses... they are the ones that makes the heater work (get hot).
about the evaporator... you can remove the core and the put the plastic cover back.. you will be removing like 3 lb... about the hole it will leave... you can cover it with some plastic or box (cardboard) and black tape or silicone...
I just went through some of this today. my A/C compressor was squealing so I went to find the correct belt to bypass it. After a few tries it seems 380K5 is the correct size for the H23A1 to run the alternator alone.
I have a H22 and my compressor or something with my ac is whining like a supercharger and it's annoying. I want to remove this. What all do I need to remove? I wanna keep my heater/defrost.
