Reliability of 95 SI Motor

If I am not mistaken the SI motor is an H23. If possible could I get some suggestions of the overall performance of the H23 Motor. Also, if there is any common problems with all Si motors for Preludes?

The H23 has 160 HP. I believe the 5-speed si's ran 0-60 in mid 7 seconds (?). The engine is typical Honda quality: Change the oil every 3K, throw a new timing belt and water pump on every few years, and put on a new clutch, and it'll give you 200K. I know some people on this board are pushing 150-180K on their engines.

The Recall?

Heh Again Everyone! Is it true that Honda Preludes are being recalled because of some faulty part in the engine? If that is true, How can I find out what I can do to fix the problem? Phone Number? Someone posted some notes about the 94-96 Preludes are being recalled. Please write.

I believe it's for a seal. It tends to back out, there a hack that Honda applies to fix it. Basically I think it's just a retainer.
Do a search, or check older Honda TSBs.

It's a general recall for the balancer shaft seal. Mine actually backed out, dumping oil onto the street. Call Honda at 800-999-1009, I think to see if your car is involved.

The si motor is a h23a1, 160 flywheel hp stock. Not a bad motor if you ask me. If you want VTEC but prefer the 2.3L, opt for a 97 Accord SiR h23a (2.3L VTEC). Would run circles around a h22a1 powered lude, but then again, my si already does that =)

Not true. . .the JDM H23a VTEC has the same HP rating as the H22a and only two ft/lbs more torque, it also has a lower redline.
