How much or how hard is it to remove the clear coat on the Jdm headlights and get them recoated?

I read that thread for the 5th gen isnt there a way to do it without sanding? Possibly peeling it off...but then what about puting the new film back on any tips?

How would you peel off pitted material? That whole thread was mainly about sanding to remove pits, not just that crummy clearcoat crap Honda put on them...
