rebuilt or buy used

I have posted b4 about getting a new engine for my 92 prelude SI(used H23A1 from japan for 1100 shipped). I know i could go with the H22 but really dont want too. I'm happy with my h23. I have about 188000 miles on the engine now and nothing wrong with it other than a internal oil leak. but i was going to get a new engine and install it but i was talking to a friend and kind of bring up the ideal of having mine rebuilt most likely for the same price. and it would be like new and all problems wwould be fix. with the new engine, i would be taking a gamble. It would have a good compression but it would problem smoke. And I know the preludes smoke but...

So what is ya'll input

if the block and head are good and you don't want a H22, mine as well just rebuild.

I would save your money and wait until someting happens to your motor. Both of my 2 current preludes have 170,000 miles on them , and are still running strong. I am actually about to boost one of them. and the last one i had i took to about 225,000 miles.

ok i think i'm going to just rebuild my engine since it is still running, but i'm going to take it apart to fix the smoking problem. I think i'm going to have to change the head gasket and /or the piston rings because i did a little search anad those are your most common problem. if anybody can think of anything else ,please list it. i plan on doing it myseal with help from freinds around income tax time do to no money. I have not did a compression test yet but am plan on doing that i a week or two. also do i have to pull the engine out to do the rebuild or can i just leave it in.
